Volunteer for AEC Cares Day at AIA Convention 2017
This year, AEC Cares joins forces with the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida to renovate its Center for Women and Families. We’ll bring together more than 140 industry volunteers to create a warmer and brighter space for homeless families.
Our seventh annual blitz build, “projectOrlando,” will take place on April 26, 2017, the day before the AIA National Convention in Orlando.
Please go to www.aeccares.com to register as a volunteer, or to donate. We need cash donations in order to cover the cost of food, building supplies, transportation, and other expenses.
Improvements to be made
The renovation of the Coalition’s Center for Women and Families offers a chance to bring positive changes to the homeless community in Orlando. Since 1987, the Coalition has provided temporary residence and comprehensive services to help its clients’ economic and housing stability. One of the few emergency shelters in the area that accepts intact families, the Coalition provides shelter, nutritious meals, and helps their clients develop a plan for self-sufficiency.
The Center for Women and Families is in significant need of a makeover!
They have requested that AEC Cares help with:
- Upgrades to the lobby
- Renovation of the family dorm hallways
- Upgrades to the family room

No other project in the industry brings together such a large group of architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and other volunteers to do such an ambitious project in an underserved community. Help AEC Cares improve the lives of those who need it most.
