Help Germantown Win a National Preservation Grant

By Tiffany Mercer-Robbins

On behalf of the Germantown United Community Development Corporation, I’m excited to inform you that the historic neighborhood of Germantown in Philadelphia is a finalist in a nationwide voting competition to win a vital historic preservation grant. The program is presented by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in conjunction with National Geographic and American Express.

Germantown is the only finalist in the entire state of Pennsylvania in the running to receive up to $150,000 in grant funding, which will be used to restore two significant 20th-century African-American historic sites, 5706 and 5801 Germantown Avenue, Parker Hall and John Trower’s building, respectively. Both buildings date to the 1870s.

We have until October 31st to secure as many votes as possible at, and your help is crucial to make sure Pennsylvania wins this grant. Voters also can enter for a chance to win a trip from National Geographic, so sharing this news is a win for everyone involved.

Included in this email is a press release, and a document containing sample social media posts, an enewsletter blurb and images that you can use for easy distribution.
