Gardner/Fox Completes Renovations at The Inn at Penn
Gardner/Fox recently completed construction of the Inn at Penn in University City, Philadelphia.
The number one priority during the renovation was to keep the hotel operational, allowing them to service their guests without disruption. As such, Gardner/Fox was tasked with developing a plan to complete renovations to 43,000 square feet of space, while allowing the Inn at Penn to operate normally. Gardner/Fox worked closely with the architect and the Inn at Penn management team to develop a strategic plan to keep the hotel fully functioning during the 3 month renovation. The project followed a meticulous and rigorous schedule, which Gardner/Fox executed seamlessly. The project was staged in different portions of the hotel at different times, configuring work space and crews around guest accommodations and large bookings. This allowed the hotel to honor all of their commitments and keep their guests comfortable, unaware of the work going on around them.
Gardner/Fox worked closely with the architect during the design phase, mocking up samples and evaluating costs so decisions could be made quickly. In the end, each room received upgraded finishes, including new flooring, lighting, paint, signage, and electrical work. Each of the corridors received new high traffic carpet, wall coverings, including the installation of over 100 sconces on each floor. Uniquely designed elevator lobbies included beautiful hand rubbed bronze chandeliers.
In total, the 43,000 square foot renovation included work on 6 floors, in 240 rooms, and 4 elevator lobbies. All the while, daily hotel operations continued as usual and guests were free to enjoy their stay in University City.
"We are proud to have been part of the team that brought this project to completion," - Brook Gardner, Gardner/Fox
