Esperanza Breaks Ground for Health Center at Kensington & Allegheny
Brawer & Hauptman, Architects has designed a 35,000 square foot neighborhood health center for Esperanza. The adaptive reuse of the 1925 Kensington Trust Company building will provide comprehensive health services including dentistry, behavior health, primary care, centering and ob-gyn care. The five-level facility retains many features of the bank's original architecture including the massive vault which will serve as a staff lounge. The clinical spaces are designed to promote interdisciplinary provider collaboration for improved patient care. The building will have a ground floor cafe that will open onto an outdoor terrace along E. Allegheny Avenue. Mayor Kenney and other dignitaries attended the groundbreaking ceremony on September 6. Esperanza has been providing holistic healthcare services to the multi-cultural Latino community of North Philadelphia for over 30 years.
