The Design SWAT Team Helps Berean Presbyterian
Our second Design SWAT Team challenge was to assist Berean Presbyterian Church in preparing for the reopening of their building. A multi-disciplined team of 6 volunteers were tasked with creating inexpensive, easily implementable design solutions to promote safe social distancing related to circulation, use of space, seating/space layouts, and visual cues, including wayfinding strategies and beautifying spaces.
In just 8 days, the Team brainstormed ideas and proposed solutions that included an enlarged color coded map and coordinated monthly schedule for the entry space, floor decals pulling from inspirational stained glass elements, circulation patterns to maintain safe distancing, and paint along with new lighting and planters to freshen and enliven the space.
Since our final presentation, the staff of Berean has begun working with a painter and sourcing some of the recommended materials. Stay tuned for updates!
