Celebrating Tioga Family Center's Completion

By Cecil Baker and Partners

Cecil Baker + Partners is delighted that construction is now complete for Gaudenzia’s Tioga Family Center, a highly energy efficient affordable housing facility for mothers and their children, designed to the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency’s latest sustainability requirements. Gaudenzia is a nonprofit leader in the field of addiction treatment and recovery services, helping people affected by drug and alcohol dependency, mental illness and related conditions achieve a better quality of life.

The Tioga Family Center, located at 1822-26 W. Tioga Street, provides 24 units of family-friendly affordable housing in new construction on a formerly empty lot. Tioga Family Center expands Philadelphia's supply of critically-needed stable, substance-free, affordable family housing and creates a comprehensive approach to family stabilization through on-site community services aimed at successfully transitioning households from treatment to independent living. The project includes service and management offices, a community room with a kitchen, a childcare space, and classrooms overlooking an outdoor green space.

Gaudenzia celebrated the opening of this new facility on January 11 with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony, with Mayor Jim Kenney in attendance. Read about it on Curbed Philadelphia or view CBS News coverage
