Architect Megan Holmes named to Philadelphia’s Forty Under 40 business leader list
Stantec celebrates and congratulates Megan Holmes, AIA, on her recognition as one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2018 class of Forty Under 40 leaders. Holmes received her award at a gala event on May 10, 2018.
Over the course of just 17 years, Holmes’s talent and leadership skills have fueled her drive to take on increasingly demanding roles. From design architect, to project manager, to principal, to her current dual role as senior principal and managing leader of Stantec’s 100-person Philadelphia architecture/engineering practice, Holmes displays a hallmark passion for excellence in design and client service.
Passion for collaboration and creativity
Holmes believes that intense collaboration and a creative planning process are essential to successful design and business outcomes. She partners with clients across the spectrum of healthcare platforms, but her passion for pediatric design and her expertise in pharmacy design, including critical USP compliance for hospital-based compounding environments keeps her team ahead of the curve in healthcare design. This commitment to clients is evident in the number of long term relationships she maintains with healthcare giants such as RWJBarnabas, University of Pennsylvania Medical Center (UPMC), and Sentara Health.
Client and colleague loyalty
A testament to her ability to build trusted relationships, clients often turn to Holmes and her teams for design assignments outside of Pennsylvania. She is currently working with one national healthcare organization to evaluate and standardize drug compounding facilities across 15 locations.
She says, “I love to solve puzzles. I am obsessively pragmatic and enjoy diving into complex challenges.” And this Generation X leader embraces new technology, “to communicate with clients and push the boundaries of our design solutions.”
In addition to her role as a senior architect, Holmes is a respected managing leader for the Philadelphia design practice. Over the past five years, she has been integral to the Philadelphia office achieving 20% organic growth.
A confluence of forces
The daughter of two graphic artists, Holmes was immersed in the creative arts from an early age and naturally talented in math and science – the confluence of these forces led her to pursue a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Philadelphia University.
Outside of Stantec, Holmes is passionate about empowering women in the industry. She is a Founding Board Member of the Professional Women in Construction (PWC), Philadelphia Chapter and a member of PWC’s National Board Task Force. As Holmes realizes success in her career, she has often found that she is the sole female in the room, or at the decision-making table. That’s why she is passionate about ensuring that women can advance to leadership levels in the architecture/engineering/construction industry.
Raised in Newton Square, PA Holmes currently resides in Glenside, where she keeps busy at home with two sons, ages 6 and 8.
