The Building Enclosure Council – Philadelphia is pleased to invite you to our next lunchtime presentation, “Roofing: System Selection and Design Criteria” where you will gain a better understanding of how to select the most appropriate roof system for your project, including review of energy efficiency, wind uplift, and other code requirements; plus learn about the strength and weakness of different types of roofing systems, earn 1 AIA HSW CES for attending, and get a free lunch as well.

Various Pros and Cons of the following roofing systems will be reviewed including: BUR, SBS, APP, PMMA, EPDM, PVC, and TPO. We will also review insulation and cover boards along with their various attachment methods and how to handle wind uplift and hail conditions.

1. Describe the criteria that plays a role in defining the proper roofing systems for client and site requirements.
2. Recognize good questions for clients in order to design the right roofing solution for client and site requirements.
3. Locate the correct resources, calculations and codes in order to design the proper roofing systems for client and site requirements.
4. Communicate to clients the rationale and reasoning for specific system selection.

Speaker BIO: Joel Asrael is a PE and has a MS in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University. He brings with him extensive experience with energy efficiency for commercial buildings. He is a national member of AEE, ASHRAE, CSI and RCI.
