Housing Policy with Senator Nikil Saval
Pennsylvania has been experiencing a housing crisis since long before the pandemic began. In this presentation, Senator Saval will discuss the current landscape of housing policy in Pennsylvania and lay out his legislative initiatives to respond to the ongoing housing crisis and create structural change needed in a world that is rapidly warming and experiencing persistent social inequities. He'll discuss obstacles on this path toward change and conclude with a discussion of how the architecture and design community plays a crucial role in advancing this legislative work for a more equitable, habitable, and beautiful world.
Specifically, the presentation will address the following questions:
-What does the state currently do?
-What is Senator Saval’s legislative agenda?
-What are the recurring issues we’ve identified during our first legislative session?
-What role can the architecture community play in shaping housing policy moving forward?
