The American Society of Landscape Architects' Maryland and Potomac Chapters recently recognized the Rowan Boulevard Redevelopment Plan with an Award of Merit which recognizes superior professional accomplishment.

The intent of the Awards Program is to encourage professional excellence in Maryland and the Washington Metropolitan Area by recognizing significant completed and proposed Landscape Architectural projects. The Awards Program brings to public attention the outstanding projects and services of Landscape Architects and honors those individuals and firms with professional awards.

The purpose of the Rowan Boulevard Redevelopment Plan was to aid the master developer, in providing a vision for a mixed-use center that would best integrate the deteriorating downtown business district and the Rowan University campus. The 26-acre development includes a hotel, office and residences located above a variety of shops and restaurants, affordable town homes, a potential grocer anchor, a 1.5-acre park, and student housing.
